Y Combinator companies, by batch and industry
More than 6,000 companies, each with the one-liner it was funded on. The most useful way to read this is not as a list of successes — it is the largest public corpus of how early-stage companies describe themselves when they are being precise.

By industry
- FintechPayments, lending, banking infrastructure and financial tooling. Consistently one of YC's largest categories, and one where the wedge is usually a specific regulated workflow rather than a broad product.
- AIThe dominant category in recent batches. Note how narrowly the accepted one-liners describe themselves — almost none say 'AI platform', because the funded version names a job.
- B2B SaaSSoftware sold to businesses. The most crowded category, which makes it the best place to study how successful applications carve a niche inside an obvious market.
- HealthcareClinical tooling, billing, diagnostics and care delivery. Long sales cycles and regulatory surface make the go-to-market dimension unusually decisive here.
- Developer toolsInfrastructure, testing, observability and anything a developer adopts before procurement notices. Distribution is often bottom-up, which changes the whole GTM calculus.
- ConsumerApps and services sold to individuals. Hardest category for market sizing, because willingness to pay is far less predictable than in B2B.
- EducationLearning tools, credentialing and institutional software. The recurring difficulty is that the buyer and the user are rarely the same person.
- Real estateProperty transactions, construction and management. Fragmented buyers and entrenched incumbents make the competition dimension the one to interrogate.
